OPPO’s UWB health monitoring patent utilizes wearable devices to acquire physiological parameters and location information of the target subject, and then sends this data to a monitoring platform which subsequently dispatches rescue information, thereby improving the accuracy of positioning and the precision of rescue messages.
Microelectronics Network News: Although the concept of the Internet of Things (IoT) has been proposed for over a decade, the advent of 5G has truly accelerated the large-scale implementation of IoT.
Currently, with the development of wireless positioning technology, location services have become an indispensable part of people’s lives and work. At the same time, the rise of smart monitoring devices has further increased the demand for location services. Moreover, with the aging population, the improvement of living standards, and the increasing awareness of health, people are beginning to pay more and more attention to the health of themselves and their families. Therefore, the research on portable wearable medical devices has attracted widespread attention from researchers and the market.
However, existing smart monitoring devices still have unsatisfactory positioning accuracy in confined spaces due to the shortcomings of technologies such as Bluetooth or network positioning. Moreover, these devices often suffer from overly singular indicator detection, insufficient measurement precision, inconvenience in carrying wearable devices, and poor functionality and reliability.
In response to these issues, OPPO’s wholly-owned subsidiary, OPPO (Chongqing) Intelligent Technology Co. , Ltd., applied for an invention patent named “Health Monitoring Method and Related Devices” on April 28, 2020 (Application Number: 202010352788.8), with the applicant being OPPO (Chongqing) Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd. This patent proposes a health monitoring system structure that mainly includes a wearable device 101, a monitoring platform 103, and multiple positioning base stations 102. The wearable device 101 is an electronic device equipped with a UWB tag, which mainly consists of a processor 1011, a memory 1012, a UWB tag 1013, and multiple sensors 1014, among other components. The multiple sensors 1014 mainly refer to multiple wearable physiological characteristic sensors that can detect various physiological parameters of the user, such as blood pressure, blood oxygen saturation, heart rate, body temperature, and more. The UWB tag, an active identification card, emits wireless signals that can be received and decoded by the monitoring platform to obtain location, unique coding, and other related information. The health monitoring method process is primarily applied to health monitoring systems that include wearable devices, monitoring platforms, and multiple positioning base stations.
First, multiple sensors on wearable devices are used to collect the physiological characteristic parameters of the monitored object (S401). Then, the real-time location of the target object is determined through signal interaction between multiple positioning base stations and the wearable device of the target object (S402). Next, after the wearable device collects the physiological characteristic parameters and real-time location information of the target object, it will package the information and send it to the monitoring platform (S403). Finally, the monitoring platform can preliminarily judge the specific physiological state of the user through the physiological characteristic parameters of the target object, and then determine the rescue tools that need to be carried. In addition, it can also interact with other platforms to generate rescue routes and improve rescue efficiency. In general, OPPO’s UWB health monitoring patent obtains the physiological parameters and location information of the target object through wearable devices and sends it to the monitoring platform, and then sends rescue information through the monitoring platform, thereby improving positioning accuracy and the accuracy of rescue information. With the impact of the epidemic and the game between China and the United States, 5G commercial use is becoming increasingly important. Relying on the east wind of 5G, this year will definitely open a new situation for the development of the Internet of Things. It is hoped that companies such as OPPO can go higher and higher on the road of the Internet of Things, break international barriers and reach the peak.
